THE GREASE TYPES THAT CAN BE USED WITH ALLFETT ELECTRICAL GREASE PUMPS.

CAUTION : Choose the grease type to be used according to those descriptions.

1. The grease should have a lithium soap and should include EP additives that increase the resistance to high pressure.

2. The NLGI class, which represents the viscosity of the grease, should be used according to the temperature measures that are described in the table below. If there is a significant temperature difference in the environment in which the system is used, the remaining grease in the system must be replaced with the grease that has the correct NLGI class for the said environment.

3. The base oil viscosity of the grease should be between 32-220mm²/s at 40*C (The structure of grease is similar to of sponges’s the higher the base oil viscosity, bigger the volume inside the pores and so, the grease gets thicker.)

4. The grease that will be used should never contain additives such as molibden, graphite or copper. Greases that say complex in their descriptions should be investigated. If Lithium complex or Calcium complex greases are being used, check if they contain molibden, graphite or copper. If they do not contain such additives, use one NLGI class below the recommended NLGI Class by the table below.

5. Different greases with different NLGI classes should never be used together. Also liquid oil should never be added to the grease to decrease its viscosity.

6. Different greases with different soap types (like lithium or calcium) should never be used together. If mixed, they may cause a chemical reaction. If the grease inside the pump is going to be changed, fully empty the reservoir and only then put the new grease type.

7. The grease which will be filled into the reservoir of the pump should be fully clean from any debris, dirt etc. During filling, no foreign material should get into the reservoir.

8. If a sample of the grease which is going to be used is available, check with your fingers if the grease contains small solid particles. Also the grese should not have sticky properties.

Penetration and NLGI Classes

The fluidity of liquid oils are represented with measuring numbers. For greases, the endurance, resistance and penetration is measured. Penetration is defined as plunging depth and measured by putting a conical item into the grease. According to the norms, the penetration is shown as 1/10mm’s. For ease of use it has been divided into 9 types. Those are the NLGI- types. For soft and fluid greases, the plunging depth increases. The table below represents the appropriate NLGI types for ALLFETT Automatic Lubrication Systems and their suitable working ambient temperatures.

NLGI 00Working ambient temperature
-30°C between -10°C
NLGI 0Working ambient temperature
-10°C between 0°C
NLGI 1Working ambient temperature
0°C between 10°C
NLGI 2Working ambient temperature
10°C between 30°C
NLGI 3Working ambient temperature
30°C and higher
At lower ambient temperatures, the penetration difference should be taken into account for perfect lubrication.

Pressure loss in lubrication lines depends on certain variables. The most important variables are pump displacement, environmental temperatures, tube diameter and NLGI class. Each variable must be considered for correct lubrication.

The chart below represents the approximate pressure loss in tube which is 1 meter long. Results vary according to pump element displacement volume created by single or multiple pump elements. Result values are defined in bars.

Grease penetration properties are variable at different environment temperatures. The environment temperature around lubrication lines must be concidered for choosing the correct grease.
Grease properties should be appropriate to environment temperatures. Changing NLGI classes at different temperatures is important for correct lubrication. High temperature resistant lubricants should be used in some cases if neccesary.

PROGRESSIVE LUBRICATION SYSTEM

All onroad vehicles are working under abrasive operating conditions. The wear between frictional parts become the most highest level at these conditions. Machinery expose bad weather, dust, dirt, rain, snow and heavy load in most cases. Consequently unwanted breakdowns occur and by that way productivity loss is inevitable.

Using automatic lubrication system only increase your profitability. ALLFETT completely take over the work load spend on lubrication with a system which is bringing togather a pump, control unit, distributors, tubes and couplings. Lubrication work is done by ALLFETT centralized lubrication systems in efficient time of machinery or vehicle which is while operating.

Lubrication is important for all frictional parts but using correct lubrication system and method only protect parts from wearing for a long time. Feeding lubrication points with correct dosage of lubricant at certain intervals while machinery is operating, provides lubricant film in place longer between parts. By ALLFETT lubrication systems life time of parts on your machinery and vehicles will be increased.

PROGRESSIVE LUBRICATION SYSTEM

Progressive lubrication system, which is a branch of automatic lubrication system, is considered as the most appropriate lubrication metod for off road vehicles along with grease. Using the automatic lubrication systems, sending grease to lubrication points at correct time with correct dosage is provided. Automatic lubrication system allows the lubrication process to be performed while vehicle is operating. By this way a grease film layer is formed. Grease film protects the parts from damage and wear coused by friction for a long time.

Pilot controlled progressive distributors, which continuously distributes grease to its outlets, are used in progressive lubrication principle. Grease is transferred from distributors to lubrication points as long as grease flow continues. Single lubrication period in progressive system is based on working time of pump and dosages divided by distributors. Grease requirement of the lubrication points are provided by using combination of the progressive middle elements along with pump operating time. Every lubrication cycle is done between film layer formation and lubricant loses features. This cycle is repeated as long as vehicle is operating.

ALL-1 electrical grease pump series and progressive distributors are designed to use for off road vehicles in progressive system. If we explain the benefits of using these products togather ;

  • Increase of the service intervals,
  • Less unnecessary down-time,
  • Reduces repair and replacement costs,
  • Fewer production losses,
  • Less wear of the parts,

TWO LINE LUBRICATION SYSTEM

Two line lubrication system, which is a branch of automatic lubrication systems, is considered as the most appropriate lubrication metod for industrial systems (large machinery with large amount of lubrication points disperced in long distances) along with grease. Using the automatic lubrication systems, sending grease to lubrication points at correct time with correct dosage is provided. Automatic lubrication system allows the lubrication process to be performed while equipment is operating. By this way a grease film layer is formed. Grease film protects the parts from damage and wear coused by friction for a long time.

There are two main feed lines in two line lubrication principle contrary to other lubrication principles. Main pressure line coming from pump is divided into two main feed lines by direction valve. Direction valve controls two main feed lines by turns. Two line lubrication principle is based on greasing two main feed lines in order. One of the main lines is pressurized with grease while other main line is send grease to lubrication points. When all lubrication points connected to both main lines are fed with grease, a lubrication cycle is complated. Every lubrication cycle is done between film layer formation and lubricant loses features. This cycle is repeated as long as machinery is operating.

SINGLE LINE LUBRICATION SYSTEM

As a part of automatic lubrication system, single line lubrication system is considered as the most appropriate lubrication method for industrial (Conveyors, CNC Machines, Gear components etc.) systems along with oil. Using the automatic lubrication systems, sending lubricant to lubrication points at correct time with correct dosage is provided. Automatic lubrication system allows the lubrication process to be performed while vehicle is operating. By this way a lubricant film layer is formed. Lubricant film protects the parts from damage and wear coused by friction for a long time.

Modular designed oil distributors, which distribute lubricant to its outlet only one time per cycle, are used in single line lubrication principle. Oil in adjusted or fixed dosage transferred from distributors to lubrication points only one time. A lubrication period in single line lubrication system is based on single dosage is send to lubrication points from distributor. Every lubrication cycle is done between film layer formation and lubricant loses features. This cycle is repeated as long as equipment is operating.

Wind turbine systems are ALLFETT central lubrications system's progressive system components developed suitable for wind turbines. Due to flexible design these systems will increase the life time and productivity of the equipment by easy maintanance and repair.

WORKING PRINCIPLE OF PROGRESSIVE SYSTEM

The lubricant coming from the pump is divided up by progressive feeders in defined ratios. The distribution of lubricant to the lube points is performed by pilot controlled valves and this is done in predetermined order.

Each piston can execute its stroke only after the one before has completed its. Thus the outlets of the progressive feeders and the connected lube points receive lubricant one after another. If the pump continues to operate, after delivering lube from the first to the last lube point, the cycle will be repeated.

The valves resume operation at the position they were stopped when the pump starts to function again. The operation and stand-by periods of the pump can be electronically regulated and the number of outlets as well as the dosage can be adjusted according to operator’s preferences. Each of the feeder section has two respective outlets and the amount of lube supplied per stroke is determined by the piston’s diameter. In case that a lube point does not accept any lubricant - whatever the reason - is or if a feeder piston is blocked, the entire feeder as well as the entire lubrication cycle stops.

One of the advantages of the progressive system is that the situation can be used to emit a signal when the system is monitored

WHY IS LUBRICATION IMPORTANT FOR MACHINES AND EQUIPMENTS ?

Machine parts work in harmony with each other. Under continuous loads or on vibrating machines to have efficient work done it is crucial to have touching surfaces lubricated

It is only possible to increase the efficiency of bearings that are found in housings, friction bearings or gear systems by lubricating them periodically.

FRICTION IS HEAVILY CORROSIVE

Lube prevents metals from wearing each other. A thin layer of protection gets in place by lubrication. This extra layer prevents the equipment from overheating and makes possible to have a more energy efficient workload.

Machine elements require low friction values for maximum efficiency. Working machine elements either turn or slide on top of each other. Those frictional parts need to be protected by lubrication to ensure the lowest frictional values possible.

Why Automatic Lubrication ?

All industrial machinery, equipment and vehicles are exposed to abrasive operating conditions. They are exposed to bad weather, dust, dirt, rain snow and in most cases heavy weight. The friction between moving parts are at the highest in these cases, thus unwanted breakdowns may occur inevitably.

The usage of an automatic lubrication system increases the profitability. ALLFETT will take over the workload spent on lubrication with its own lubrication systems that include a pump, a control unit, distributors, tubes and couplings. ALLFETT Automatic Lubrication systems provide sufficient lubrication in a timely manner when the machinery or vehicle is operating.

Lubrication is important for all frictional parts but choosing the correct lubrication system and method is the key to protect the parts from wearing too fast. Feeding the lubrication points with the correct dosage of a lubricant at certain intervals while the machinery is operating makes sure to provide a lubricant layer in place between parts at all times. With the usage of ALLFETT solutions, life of the parts on your machinery and vehicles will be increased considerably.

Problems with manual lubrication:

  • Manual lubrication is a time consuming process and is sometimes forgotten and as a result inadequate lubrication causes high repair and downtime expenses due to premature wear.
  • Manual lubrication is done while the machine is sitting still or static which means that when you grease, there is a load on one side of the pin and bushing.
  • The grease is directed to the no-load side with excess grease being pushed out of the joint.
  • With manual greasing, every time you connect a grease gun to nipple there is a high risk of contamination.
  • Regularity, availability and reliability of the maintenance staff.
  • Climate conditions.
  • Planning of service logistic.
  • Need for frequent interruption for lubricating.
  • Tiresome operation.

Why Automatic Centralized Lubrication?

  • Automatic Centralized systems are used to direct lubricant from a central source to areas on a machine where friction is an issue.
  • Lubrication is performed on a regular basis and at pre selected time intervals via an electronic control unit of its own.
  • Grease is constantly present at the lubrication points maintaining a grease seal to block contaminants from potentially entering a pin or bushing.
  • Each connected lube point receives a predefined amount of grease assuring cleanliness and in case of any failure; it is monitored by an electronic warning control unit.
  • Increased component life tops the list of benefits. Potential savings through increased component life, productivity gains and lower grease consumption will return your investment several times over.
  • A very cost effective investment for your company.
  • Maximum performance obtained by preventing loss of time due to equipment down time.
  • The lubrication takes place dynamically and automatically without any intervention of a maintenance staff and operator.
  • No lube point can be forgotten.
  • Avoids being overlooked for hidden lube points, also supplies for hard to reach lube points.
  • Reduces maintenance and repair costs.
  • Avoids undesirable wear and tear.
  • Increases the parts service life four times over compared to same part being lubricated manually.
  • No risk of contamination during lubrication process and contributes environmental protection.
  • Reduces the lubricant consumption up to 50 % compared to manual lubrication.
  • Improved safety. Almost 50 % occupational accidents occur on construction machines while maintenance or repair.

Scientific and planned working methods are applied.

Information gets excahnged with experts and organizations in the field of technology.

In all works, customer requirements are taken into consideration and customer satisfaction is aimed for.

Effective use of resources is emphasized during work.

To Allfett, it is essential to comply with legal requirements, to fulfill the requirements of quality management system and to continuously improve our system in context with our targets.

Golden series pump elements are tested to extreme environmental conditions with corrosive grease types. The test results shows that life time of pump elements is increased by more than 10 times. We can adapt same technology to LUBMATIC series gear pumps.

Golden series are optional products, please contact us for detailed information.
